Vintage Christmas Cards
Ranging from the intricate Victorian cards to the retro designs of the mid 20th century, vintage Christmas cards are popular with collectors.
Look for Victorian cards with die-cut images, paper lace, embossing, silk fringe and tassels, moving and pull-out designs and celluloid decorations. Be aware that Victorian ephemera is easily reproduced - it's a good idea to look into the seller's reputation and knowledge of the subject before dropping a high bid on an item which may or may not be genuine.
Also desirable are greeting cards designed by famous artists like Kate Greenaway and 19th century Christmas cards by top greeting card publishers of the time like L. Prang and Co or Raphael Tuck and Sons.
Flocking, glitter and cartoon characters adorn more recent vintage Christmas cards.
