Victorian Tinsel Ornaments
Blown glass ornaments wrapped in crinkled tinsel and wire were a common sight on Christmas trees at the turn of the century. Fanciful figures such as airships and balloons were popular, as were plain glass balls (many with long "stems") in all colors. Silk fringes and ribbons also adorned many of these ornaments.
Also common were tinsel "scrap" ornaments, made from tinsel, paper and ribbon.
Reproductions of these ornaments exist.
