Use these simple sugar glazes as an icing for gingerbread men and other Christmas cookies.
Confectioner's Sugar Glaze
1 C confectioner's sugar
2 Tbsp cold water
Place confectioner's sugar in a small bowl. Stirring constantly, stir in about 2 tablespoons of cold water, a little at a time, until the glaze is smooth and thin enough to spread easily.
For a colored glaze, add a few drops of food coloring.
Variations:
Almond Glaze
1 C confectioner's sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp cold water
Stir together sugar, almond extract and lemon juice. Add water as above until mixture is smooth.
