Vintage Christmas Garlands
Garlands for the earlier Victorian trees were mostly made of of paper or edibles - popcorn, cranberries and the like - strung together and draped around the tree.
Later garlands of beads, clear glass or mercury glass in a variety of colors became popular.
Beads of early Christmas garlands were larger, smaller beads were used to decorate trees in later years. Some Christmas tree garlands have additional decorations like bells or tinsel.
